George Alagiah

George Alagiah joined the BBC in 1989, following seven years in print journalism. He is currently presenter of the BBC News and World News Today.  Before going behind the studio desk, George was one of the BBC’s leading foreign correspondents reporting on significant events ranging from the genocide in Rwanda, the plight of the marsh Arabs in southern Iraq and civil wars in Afghanistan, Liberia and Sierra Leone. George has won several awards including recognition from Amnesty International and The Royal Television Society.
