Luke Dormehl’s ‘THE FORMULA’ is Published

3 April 2014

THE FORMULA: How Algorithms Solve Our Problems… and Create More’, published by WH Allen / Random House on 3 April 2014, takes you in to the world of numbers that is increasingly playing a major role in our day to day lives. Luke Dormehl explains how we came to believe in the all-conquering power of algorithms, introduces the mathematicians, artificial intelligence experts and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who are shaping this brave new world, and ultimately asks how we survive in an era where numbers can sometimes seem to create as many problems as they solve.

Luke is a technology author/journalist, with a background in documentary film. He regularly contributes to Fast Company where he covers high-tech and the digital humanities, and also writes for the popular Apple blog, Cult of Mac. His previous books include The Apple Revolution, which explored the links between Apple and the hippie counterculture of the 1960s/70s.

‘This important book deserves to be read, and digested, by all who wrestle with, and enjoy -- or worry about -- a world transformed by digital technology.’ Ken Auletta, author of Googled

‘This is exactly the type of book we need to be reading as society considers the computerized control of nearly all the systems that affect our lives.’ Chris Dannen, Fast Company

Luke is available for interview and to write features, including those on newsworthy algorithmic subjects and companies.
