Palden Gyatso

Palden Gyatso was born in a Tibetan village in 1933 and became an ordained Buddhist monk aged eighteen. During the Chinese invasion of Tibet he was arrested  and spent 33 years in Chinese prisons and labour camps. After his release in 1992 he fled to Dharamsala, North India, in exile. He is still a practicing monk and political activist, travelling the world publicizing the cause of Tibet. Fire Under the Snow is published in more than 20 languages.
